Yunfeng Tunpu, a Ming-dynasty military relic hidden in the karst peaks of central Guizhou, is acclaimed as a "living fossil of Ming-dynasty culture". Yunfeng Tunpu is not an isolated settlement, but a defensive system comprised of several villages, including "Yunshan Tun" and "Benzhai". Built to follow the mountain contours with numerous watchtowers, the stone houses feature distinctive stone-tiled roofs laid out in neat rows, exemplifying the consummate military defensive wisdom of the Cold Weapon Era. The architecture and customs have frozen 600 years of time. The winding stone lanes, towering shooting slits, and the ancient "Tunpu dialect" spoken by villagers all tell the stories of the descendants of the Ming southern expedition army.
